Abstract

sarcheshme copper complex is one of industrial areas that it is facing a great volume of worn car tires each years. In Iran the basic management has not been done for recycling or reuse of worn tires yet and more than 70% of the worn tires released into the environment without the use and has created problems for the environment. In this study that has been done in order to evaporation reduction of water reservoirs and tailing dams of sarcheshmeh copper complex, is presented dual purpose plan using worn tires to prevent the entry of waste into the environment and reducing evaporation of water levels. For this purpose, a physical cover of evaporation reducer (Unoring) was designed and prepared. For evaluating the performance of Unoring cover to reduce evaporation was built two ponds with an area of 9 square meter in the vicinity of sarcheshmeh tailing dam. Then one of the pond surface was covered with Unoring cover and the other pond was without cover and was considered as control. In the following, the evaporation losses was measured for two month and an interval of three days in each pond. The results showed, performance of Unoring cover in evaporation reduction is 78.77%. Due to the water severe crisis and significant losses of evaporation and a great volume of worn tires in Iran, the presented plan can be considered as a successful project to reduce the rate of evaporation from water reservoirs.
